Is your carbon footprint a bit of a mystery? Need a hand reducing it? Mission Zero is here to help.

Countdown to Zero is a programme of fun and interactive workshops designed to help businesses in Te Tauihu measure and reduce their carbon emissions. We make it easy for you to take steps towards a carbon-neutral future.

This first session is your chance to try us out. It’s your 101 on carbon cutting. And, as with all following workshops, it’s totally free (but please book in advance).

Led by carbon accounting expert Marta Karlik-Neale, Sustainability and Resilience Principal at Tonkin + Taylor, this session shares climate change concepts and tools, gives you an opportunity to ask questions, and gets you started on tracking your carbon emissions. It’s all about enabling you to continue to compete in a world facing climate disruption. You’ll leave better informed, more inspired and ready for action.

So come and join us on our countdown to zero in Te Tauihu.

The three hour session will cover:

  • Introduction to carbon accounting concepts – what we are measuring, how to collect data, standards and sources, types of carbon footprints, useful tools
  • Practical session – assessing sources of carbon emissions in your business and discussing ways to collect the data

This session is led by Marta Karlik-Neale, a highly experienced sustainability and environmental management professional with over 20 years of expertise. She specializes in sustainability strategy, mitigation, adaptation, and stakeholder engagement.

Marta has collaborated with prominent organizations such as Air New Zealand, Foodstuffs, Microsoft, Meridian Energy, and Port Nelson, as well as notable local authorities including Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch City Councils. She holds Master’s certifications in Environmental Science and International Economics and has also studied Māori Environmental Science.

Currently serving as Sustainability & Resilience Principal at Tonkin + Taylor, Marta continues to drive positive change in sustainable practices.
